Shirlee Smith, the librarian at Havre High School, began the MPI
in the early 1980s. Many Montana libraries subscribed to this valuable
index, purchasing the index first as cards, then later, as loose
leaf 8 1/2 x 11 inch pages. Shirlee
Smith has very generously donated this online version of the
MPI to Montana's libraries and library patrons. Magazines indexed
